VICTORIA Falls musical ensemble, Mokoomba, has made it abroad due to originality and creativity.
The former Music Crossroads Inter-Regional competition winners, are back in the country after yet another successful tour abroad.
The Tonga outfit held a series of shows in the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany, among other countries in Europe.
Last weekend, the group held one show in Harare before returning to Victoria Falls for their annual leave.
“As Mokoomba, we managed to penetrate the European scene due to hard work.
“We also sing in our native language, which has made our brand unique,” said Mokoomba spokesperson, Abudance Mutori.
Mutori, who also doubles up as the bass guitarist, said they have piggybacked on their international exposure to get more shows abroad.
“We have learnt a lot during our international tours, which enable us to share our own culture and understand other cultures.
“As a band, we have respect for each other, which has made us remain intact for years,” he said.
The group is famed for its songs such as Masangago, Tamvel, Kumukanda, Jawane and many more.
Their unique creative blend of Tonga sounds fused with Afro beat has made their music distinct.
