Great Zimbabwe Hotel continues to expand corporate social responsibility programmes after it extended a helping hand to the nearby Morgenster Mission Hospital.

Great Zimbabwe Hotel donated a solar medication chiller, drip stands, blankets and bed linen to one of the biggest hospitals in Masvingo district.

The hotel’s general manager, Ms Aretha Takaza, noted that the donation by her institution is part of the deepening relationships between Great Zimbabwe Hotel and surrounding communities in Masvingo District.

Ms Takaza revealed that her institution had also donated playground equipment for the hospital and refurbished a ward that was adopted by the hotel since 2022.

“We adopted a ward at the hospital (Morgester) that we always make sure is repainted to be always in perfect condition that allows patients to recover,” she said.

“We fixed the roof in the ward and the ceiling and also donated canteen equipment and chairs.”

According to Ms Takaza Great Zimbabwe Hotel would continue to expand its corporate social responsibility programmes for the benefit of communities where it is domiciled.

The partnership with Morgenster Mission Hospital started in 2022 and continues to grow in leaps and bounds with Great Zimbabwe Hotel’s adoption of a ward at the institution dovetailing with President Mnangagwa’s “Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo” mantra.

The hotel at the Great Zimbabwe World Heritage Site divested from Africa Sun and has new owners who have since started an ambitious expansion programme to double accommodation capacity while an additional conference centre will also be built to enable the hotel to host bigger events and summits.

The donation to Morgenster comes after the hotel, in December last year, hosted a Christmas party for young people from Masvingo District living with HIV and Aids.
