Veteran defender Moses Jackson, 42, has joined Dynamos’ Bulawayo Supporters Chapter football team in the non-professional HIV Prevention League.
Jackson, formerly of Chicken Inn and Caps United, joined the DeMbare supporters team after leaving topflight club Arenel during the mid-season transfer window.
Jackson left at a time Arenel were struggling to pay salaries. The situation at Arenel appears to remain the same. The experienced player was instrumental in DeMbare Supporters’ 2-0 win over Makokoba Shooters in the Townshend and
Butcher tournament final at White City Stadium on Sunday.
“I still have the energy to play football. I’m enjoying the pressure-free environment of social football,” Jackson told Zimpapers Sports Hub.
On joining Dynamos supporters team, Jackson joked: “It’s always been my dream to play for Dynamos.”
Known for his aggressive playing style, Jackson is often compared to former Dynamos defenders Kaitano Tembo, James Matola and Herbert Dick.
In the final, he played with confidence and skill in the midfield. The Gweru-born “Black Shark” boasts exceptional ball-winning skills, vision, composure and balance.
Despite his age, Jackson believes he still has much to offer and can teach younger players a thing or two. Jackson joined Chicken Inn in 2012 from Hardbody, leading a team that included Clemence Matawu, George Majika, Xolani Ndlovu, Passmore Bernand, Guide Goddard and Pride Zendera.
Matawu, Bernard and Goddard have since retired. Jackson grew up in the Caps United junior ranks with the likes of Raymond Undi, Brian Badza and Ashley Rambanapasi.
The likes of Undi, Rambanapasi and other players he had rubbed shoulders with at junior level soared high in their football careers before he could blossom. He was a late bloomer.
Luckily, he was spotted by Hardbody a Gweru-based professional football team then, while playing social soccer and the team offered him a contract. After a few years at Hardbody, an ambitious Chicken Inn came knocking in 2012.
