Motor Super Sounds score Chibuku Road to Fame hattrick

GWANDA’S Motor Super Sounds musical band were for the third time, crowned Matabeleland South Chibuku Road to Fame provincial champions on Saturday.

The six-member group which won the provincial competitions in 2011 and 2013 beat nine other groups in a stiff competition held at Colleen Bawn beerhall. They walked away with $1,000 prize money as well as a ticket to represent their province at the national finals at Glamis Stadium in Harare on September 22.

Tshitshi Super Sounds from Plumtree received the second prize of $500 while the third prize went to a Gwanda group, Vumbachikwe Super Sounds.

Motor Super Sounds is now preparing for the finals where they have promised to do their best.

“We’re very happy that hard work has paid again. This time we promise to work harder so that we bring the first prize to our province. We’re having thorough practice sessions to correct the mistakes that have been letting us down in the previous years,” said Motor Super Sounds band leader, Rowanai Dhliwayo.

Matabeleland South provincial arts manager Nokuthula Moyo said he was impressed by the performances at the provincial finals.

“We’re confident that the group that has been chosen will represent us well at the national finals. Their music is polished and the diverse languages they use will represent our rainbow province,” Moyo said.

Martin Sibanda and Ndolwane Super Sounds who performed at the provincial finals left revellers clamouring for more.
