THE local 2026 motorsport season moves a gear up in the next couple of weeks with five major track, main circuit racing and off-road events being lined-up for Harare and Bulawayo.

Headlining these events will be a main circuit racing event – the Tiger Wheel & Tyre Race Day – scheduled for tomorrow at Donnybrook Park Raceway in Harare.

Tomorrow will also see some of the country’s top junior and senior kart racers converging at the PPK Track just outside the National Sports Stadium for the third round of the 2026 Kart Sport Club season.

These two events will be followed by the country’s major off-road event, the 2026 Castrol 4X4 Jamboree which is scheduled for May 23 and 24 at Donnybrook Park Raceway in Harare.

This two-day major off-road event features intense, family- friendly competitions including the Mud Run, seesaw, tyre mountain, and various driving challenges hosted by the 4×4 Club Zimbabwe.

The following weekend – Saturday May 30 – will see the Bulawayo Motorsport Park hosting the Castrol Terry Allberry Memorial public drag racing meeting.

This jam-packed motorsport programme will also feature Round Three of the 2026 Bogwheelers Club National  Motocross Championship series on May 31 at Donnybrook in Harare.

But first on its menu will be tomorrow’s Tiger Wheel & Tyre Race Day at the same iconic motorsport venue in Harare.

This exciting main racing circuit, being the second round of this year’s Zimbabwe National Championship series, will feature a number of the country’s top male and female motor racing drivers, including some competitors from Bulawayo.

The competitors have been entered across six classes.

The “main course” of tomorrow’s “dish” will be the 1-Hour Endurance Race which is set to start from 2pm.

As the name suggests, the winner will be the driver who completes the most laps in the allotted one hour, with a compulsory pit stop for fuel making it possible for two drivers to share the driving duties in one car.

Drivers will be living on their instincts!

The turbo saloon cars are expected to dominate, but their excessive fuel usage and tyre wear could open the door for a sports car winner.

The race is expected to feature the country’s top motor racing drivers such as Angelo Tavares, Jim Perry, Des Morris, Mano Zevgolis and his daughter Catherine.

Also in the same pack will be the likes of Neil Bruce, Chris Morris, Usama Patel, Dougie Mellor, Steve Murton, Gary Kirk, Eric Heard, Brett Olsen and the fast-improving Maurizio Savo.

Crowd favourite Harmish Perry will also be out to keep the expected bumper crowd on its feet in his new BMW turbo.

According to the organisers of this one-day event, main sponsors, Tiger Wheel & Tyre, have graciously offered to host the Vintage and Classic car club, so the old machines will be on display and also paraded around the track at the lunch break.

The day will also include a motorcycle and a drifting demonstration.

Tiger Wheel & Tyre have also upgraded the facility at Donnybrook.
