MEGA Market Mountaineers hosted its annual awards ceremony to celebrate excelling players from the juniors in the academies set-up to senior players at Mutare Sports Club at the weekend.
The event was held after the Mutare-based cricket franchise triumphed against Rhinos to clinch the Pro50 Championship.
Amongst the delegates present were tournaments director of Africa Cricket, Hamilton Masakadza, Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni, National Academy Head Coach Steven Mangongo, Mountaineers Chairman Godfrey Nyadongo, alongside sponsors from Victoria Falls Safari lodge, Nigel Frost, and Mega Market PVT ltd and Willowton group executive Ernest Mlambo.
Mountaineers cairman Godfrey Nyadongo said the event was meant to applaud the outstanding performances by the players through an arduous season which had so many twists and turns.
In his speech, he said: “It is my pleasure to be here today. Thank you to the team who has made it possible. We are happy to see you succeed with support you have been getting from each other, the community and sponsors. It is because of the success, you have been enjoying, that it’s really easy to identify with you. We are proud of the culture you have been cultivating in the sport which brings inspiration to the youngsters.”
