Mourinho signs United deal

LONDON. — Manchester United will announce Jose Mourinho as their next manager within the next two weeks after he signed a deal to replace Louis van Gaal.

The former Chelsea boss has been in the running to take over at Old Trafford since December but finally signed the contract at the end of last week.

United bosses held off a late bid from French giants Paris St-Germain to secure his services and had hoped to wait until the end of the season to make an announcement.

They didn’t want any distractions ahead of their bid to finish in the places for Champions League qualification as well as FA Cup Final glory.

But they have been forced to bring it forward after news of Mourinho’s signing the contract leaked out on Saturday in his native Portugal. — The Daily Express.
