MUSICIAN Peter Moyo claims he is under fire over his alleged love affair with Botswana musician and dancer Slizer.
Young Igwe, as Moyo is popularly known, said the publication of his alleged affair with Slizer (real name Naledi Kaisara) had caused a stir in his love life, threatening his marriage plans as he was in a serious relationship with a local girl.
The two musicians’ alleged love affair recently went viral after a Botswana newspaper The Voice reported that Slizer had dumped her South African husband Bosi Mosupi for Moyo.
According The Voice, Slizer admitted that she was in love with the sungura musician and that her marriage to Mosupi had crumbled chiefly because he was a control freak who wanted her to quit showbiz and become a housewife.
Slizer was also quoted saying Moyo had been very helpful, providing a shoulder to cry on, especially in the trying times of divorce and all the media stories about her private life.
But Moyo denied allegations that he was dating Slizer, saying the allegations had caused problems for him and his girlfriend’s family.
“My girlfriend’s family called me on Wednesday after the story had been published. I was forced to call Slizer to clarify the issue to my (would-be) in-laws and, as I speak, I am under fire over that issue,” said Moyo.
He said the phone call he made to his in-laws was not enough to convince his girlfriend’s relatives that he was not in love with Slizer to an extent that arrangements have been made to have the Botswana artiste come to Zimbabwe to clarify the issue.
“We have arranged that she comes here and we discuss the issue. We will also engage the press and give them the story from both sides. Those allegations have cost me big time,” he added.
Pressed to reveal the name of his fiancée, the musician said it was private and confidential.
“I can’t tell you her name for now. What if I tell you her name and we break up, what will happen? As soon as negotiations are through, I will tell you but definitely a wedding is coming soon,” said Moyo.
Moyo admitted having visited Slizer in her hotel room but dismissed reports that they were in love.
“These reports were on the basis that I visited her hotel room which is true, but I was just visiting her as a fellow artiste. All the time I visited her, she was with her children and there was no way we could talk about love.”
Slizer was not reachable for comment yesterday as her mobile phone went unanswered.
This is not the first time Young Igwe has been dragged into issues related to controversial love affairs. Recently there were reports that the musician clashed with Dino Mudondo over a girl.
Last year there was rumour that the musician dated his father’s popular fan Monica “Sele” Chikasha. — Harare Bureau/Showbiz Reporter
