A MOZAMBICAN man travelling from South Africa to his home was attacked and robbed at Meikles Park around 7pm last week. Gonzalo Muhai (32) was walking from OK Supermarket heading towards Mudzviti Rank where he expected to board transport to Forbes Border Post.Police confirmed the case and said Muhai saw three men walking towards him but did not suspect anything as there were many people on the pavement.

“They stopped him and asked for directions to which he replied that he was a foreigner and was not familiar with the place.
“One of them allegedly took a knife from his pocket and pointed it on Muhai’s stomach. He ordered him to keep quiet or he risked being stabbed. He complied.

“He was ordered to surrender his bag which had his HP laptop and $1 567. He also surrendered his Samsung mobile phone,” said Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Enock Chishiri.

Muhai was slapped on the face and the robbers fled from the scene. He reported the matter to the police.
The three suspects are still at large and investigations are in progress.

In an unrelated case, a teenager from Chingozhoro Village, Chief Nyashanu in Buhera, was robbed on his way to Wedza.
Peter Chingozhoro (19) boarded a red Mazda twin-cab at Chano turn-off at Murambinda Growth Point around 9am.
Insp Chishiri said the vehicle had four occupants and he had to sit in the loading box alone.

After passing Mavhaire Business Centre, the suspects turned right into a gravel road and parked their vehicle in the bush.
The four men disembarked from the vehicle and one of them grabbed Chingozhoro as the other searched his pockets.
They robbed him of $10, a pair of safety shoes, a pair of black trousers, 10 litres diesel and 5 litres oil.

They drove off leaving him alone in the bush and he reported the matter to the police the following day.
The accused are still at large and investigations are in progress.
“We urge people to use public transport all the times so that they don’t risk losing their valuables to robbers,” said Insp Chishiri.
