Mrs Matienga expressed fear that political violence in the forthcoming election could spill into the month of August.
Zimbabwe would next year co-host the UNWTO general assembly with Zambia in Victoria Falls.
“After listening to this presentation on UNWTO it got me thinking . . . I thought, won’t this general assembly be disrupted by the elections next year.
“We have the referendum and the election coming we might disrupt the event,” she said.
She was however, heckled by her peers from the floor.
Mrs Matienga defended her position.
“It is just food for thought, why can’t we as parliament call for the postponement of the elections to 2014?”
Zanu-PF legislators accused the MDC-T for violence.
“The elections will be peaceful. MDC-T has to control its hooligans and its thugs who are bent on causing chaos and despondence,” a Zanu-PF legislator said from the floor.
The UNWTO general assembly will be held in August next year.
