LEGENDARY ‘keeper Japhet “Short Cat” M’parutsa has wished the Warriors success as they embark on their long journey in a bid to secure a ticket to next year’s Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco. M’parutsa yesterday sent a goodwill message to coach Ian Gorowa from his base in the United Kingdom. “Our players must keep their spirits up throughout the match. They must not be complacent. I wish good luck to the team and my young brother Ian (Gorowa) and I hope they will fly our national flag high,” said M’parutsa.
M’parutsa is widely regarded as the second best Zimbabwean ‘keeper of all-time after Bruce Grobbelaar.
He also sent a message of support to injured Shabanie Mine goalkeeper Victor Twaliki.
“I am with you in my prayers. Get well soon. Zimbabwe needs goalkeepers like you,” said M’parutsa.
Twaliki, the son to the late CAPS United legend Salad, was injured in a clash with Dynamos forward Tafadzwa Rusike at Maglas last Sunday.
He was transferred to Harare to see a specialist and could be out of action for a lengthy period.
A number of fans from as far as Australia, were touched by his plight and have sent him money to help settle his bills.
The ‘keeper is recuperating at the family home in Mufakose.
