RALPH Kawondera, the FC Platinum assistant coach, believes his team can stand toe-to-toe with Highlanders in their ZNA Charities semi-final clash at Barbourfields tomorrow. Kawondera said they are expecting a hostile crowd in the terraces, who want to see Bosso succeed this season, but expects their players to respond accordingly.
“We have a lot of respect for Highlanders. They are a big club and they have achieved a lot in football, but that does not mean they are invincible,” said Kawondera.
“We know that Cup games are tough but we are going there to get a positive result and we want to do it in regulation time.
“We are not worried about the home support but we are going there to play our normal game and we normally do that in front of a capacity crowd.”
Highlanders are still to beat FC Platinum in a Cup tie.
Lloyd Mutasa’s side eliminated Bosso from the BancABC Sup8r Cup last year at Mucheke.
This year Bosso were shown the exit door in the Independence Cup semi-finals when they fell 4-5 after a penalty shoot-out in front of their fans.
The platinum miners will miss their young midfielder, Wisdom Mutasa, who injured his ankle during training yesterday. They, however, have enough arsenal in Allen Gahadzikwa, Njabulo Ncube, Michelle Katsvairo, Tatenda Dzumbunu, Walter Musona, Obrey Chirwa and Immaculate “Gebo” Mawune.
Kawondera urged the team’s fans to keep supporting the team and believes good days are on the way for the team.
“We lost to Buffaloes and Hwange and those were bad moments for us. We are going to come right in the league. The league is very competitive this season but we hope for the best and we want everyone to be smiling by the end of the season,” said Kawondera.
Bosso have been playing well, of late, and are unbeaten in the league championship.
They were impressive as they turned on the style, in a game of high quality, in their top-of-the-table tie against plucky ZPC Kariba at Gwanzura.
