DESPITE his years of training and dedication to healing patients, a medical doctor at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo found himself the victim of a different kind of ailment – one that cost him his wallet and his freedom of movement.

Dr Andile Ndlovu (27), was left counting his losses after a sex worker he allegedly hired stole his money and car keys while he was sleeping.

The story of how Dr Ndlovu’s rendezvous with a lady of the night took a disastrous turn unfolds as follows.

It is alleged that last Friday, Ndlovu, was drinking at a bar in Mzilikazi suburb when he met Shamaine Pinky Ncube (31), a self-proclaimed sex worker.

After a brief conversation, Ndlovu allegedly engaged Shamaine to spend the night with him at his home.

It is alleged that the pair reached an agreement and then drove to Ndlovu’s home in Bulawayo’s Magwegwe West suburb.

It is said that the pair spent quality time together at his home and when he fell asleep, Shamaine allegedly struck. It is reported that she allegedly stole US$315 and his car keys.

When Ndlovu woke up the following morning, he was shocked to find his cash box open and US$315 missing. To make matters worse, he discovered that his car keys were also gone.

It is alleged that Ndlovu called Shamaine on her mobile number, but it was unreachable. He then went to check her at her home but could not find her, leading him to report the incident to the police. A manhunt was launched, resulting in Shamaine’s arrest.

Shamaine has since appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Evia Matura, facing a theft charge. She pleaded not guilty and was remanded out of custody to 27 January after paying US$100 bail.
