MPOPOMA High School will represent Bulawayo Metropolitan at the National Association of Secondary School Heads (Nash) Under-20 soccer national finals in Harare. They beat Milton 1-0 in the final at Gifford High School on Friday.Mpopoma High School grabbed the lead after the Milton goalkeeper failed to clear his lines with his defenders.
They will represent the province at the national finals for the second time in a row after they defeated Hamilton 4-0 at same stage last year.

Their coach Babson Ngwenya praised the team’s performance at the provincial final.

“The boys did well but they were a bit tired in the end. We hope to do well at the nationals since we have had a feel of it before,” he said.
Last year Mpopoma failed to go past the group stages but with the talent they have this time around, they are likely to do better.
The likes of Bulawayo Chiefs striker Toto Banda, a product of FMH Academy who scored five goals on Friday in the qualifiers, Derrick Chisale, Velile Siziba and Brighton Matanhire who was part of the national Under-20 team which was set to travel to Angola last week are promising stars in the team.

Chisale, Siziba and Matanhire were also part of the Bulawayo soccer team at the Zimbabwe National Youth Games last month.
Mpopoma booked a place in the final after thrashing Tennyson Hlabangana 4-0 in the semi-finals.
