NATIONAL Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness patron, Pikirayi Deketeke, is expected to grace the Mr and Ms Novice where more than 50 athletes could battle for glory in the capital today.
The showdown is set for the Zimbabwe College of Music and Iron Lion Nutrition will be the title sponsor.
Quiet Shangai, the National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness secretary-general, said the show was meant for athletes who are yet to compete at Novice level. The event will this year introduce two new categories.
“Registration of the Iron Lion Nutrition Novice Zimbabwe 2019, which begun on March 16, will close tomorrow at 9 am.
“The second contest of the year will see several categories at the Zimbabwe College of Music, 50 athletes are expected to take part in the senior men bodybuilding Open, junior men Under-23, men’s physique open, men’s fitness, women fitness development and the wheelchair men bodybuilding contest
“This year we will introduce two divisions — Men’s Fitness model and Women Fitness model as exhibition divisions,’’ said Shangai.
Several athletes — Regina Jonga, Reginald Pasara, Nunurai Masosonere, Munyaradzi “Hakeem’’ Mandaza and Hellen Costa, who went on to win an IFBB-rated international show, have made their names through the Mr and Ms Novice battlets.
Generations Shop Fitters, Cards Unlimited, Perspectives, Supplement Factory, Kingsport Investments, Gidza and Musclerage are some of the other sponsors.
