MSC take on Zvishavane Bulls

MUTARE Sports Club’s Shumbas take on Zvishavane Bulls tomorrow (Saturday) at their favourite hunting ground as the second round of the National Rugby League enters into match three. The match kicks off 3pm at Mutare Sports Club.

The Shumbas are still riding high following their 15-8 victory against arch-rivals Gweru Sports Club last Saturday.

The win was crucial for the Shumbas who need points on the board to maintain alive their top-five finish dream this season.

GSC were, however, not the only team to receive a surprise baptism following the 12-28 defeat of Old Georgians to Busters at Hartsfield in Bulawayo. Old Miltonians on the other hand failed to keep their guard in their backyard like Busters and had to settle for a 0-34 whipping at the hands of defending champions, Old Hararians.

While Zvishavane Bulls may be the league’s punching bags who are still to record a victory, MSC chairman, Moss Kapumha, said they would not underestimate them.

“In rugby you can never underestimate an opponent because anything can happen. We will go into the match full force and strive to put more points on the board.

“We are still in the green zone to finish the season in the top-five, so it means getting bonus points where possible and pushing for wins is the way to go,” said Kapumha.

There are six matches left to go before the 2014 top-flight league ends. MSC will at least have to win three of the six matches to secure a top-five finish and excel above Western Panthers and OMS  that are just a few  points ahead on position six and five respectively.
