THIS month has been a testing period for Warriors winger Daniel Msendami, who is working to rediscover his form following a devastating personal tragedy.
The Orlando Pirates player is mourning the loss of his two-month-old daughter.
What began as a joyful moment of welcoming a new member into his family quickly turned into sorrow, leaving the talented attacker grappling with grief.
The tragedy has come at a crucial time in his professional journey, shortly after sealing a high-profile move from Marumo Gallants to South African giants Orlando Pirates.
The transition to one of the continent’s biggest clubs already carries immense pressure, and Msendami is still in the process of settling into a new environment.
Balancing personal loss with the demands of elite football has not been easy, but the winger remains determined to rise above the setback.
“I have put everything in God’s hands because He is the Almighty. Losing my daughter, whom I had just welcomed, was painful, but as I said, I leave everything to God,” said Msendami.
“This month has been very tough for me. I am trying to regain my form following the loss of my daughter.
“I am looking forward to coming back stronger, getting back to my best and playing at the level I am capable of.
“Losing my daughter remains painful in my heart, but it is now time for me to bounce back. I am trying hard to refocus and push again.”
Born in Bulawayo, Msendami’s rise has been steady and impressive.
He began his senior career at Highlanders before making a bold move to Botswana to join Jwaneng Galaxy in 2022.
It was in Botswana where he gained valuable continental experience and developed into a more complete player, performances that earned him a place in the Zimbabwe senior national team.
His progress soon attracted interest from South Africa, leading to a move to Marumo Gallants ahead of the 2024/25 season.
After a stellar spell for both club and country – including representing Zimbabwe at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco – Msendami secured a dream transfer to Orlando Pirates.
