on Sunday, the goalkeepers’ coach said in the past the game showcased the best talent there was in the country.
“The thing is, we have different types of players these days.
“We used to have players who could change the complexion of the match and players such as Joel Shambo and Moses Chunga who could lift others when the chips were down,” said Msiska.
Msiska says that while teamwork was important in the derby, there are moments when it needs the magic of an individual to make a difference.
“We used to play the first 40 minutes as a team and it would be all about teamwork but from there it would be about individuals with players like Sinyo (Stanley Ndunduma) shining for the team.
“I remember during those matches, I would tell myself that playing against Moses and Vitalis (Takawira), ‘I am going to make sure that these two will not score against me.’
“And whenever they were in possession I would monitor them because it was different conceding a goal against these big-name players to conceding a goal from any other player.
“That’s where I made my name playing in these derbies and they were great matches for everyone and one would look forward to playing a derby.
“Those days no one team would dominate the other the entire season.
“Either CAPS United would win the first leg and Dynamos the reverse.
“Now it’s like the derbies can go for some time with Dynamos winning,” said Msiska.
CAPS United last won a Harare Derby in March 2009 when former bustling striker Nyasha Mushekwi scored a brace that sunk the Glamour Boys.
However, Msiska believes that on Sunday the tide turn in Makepekepe’s favour.
“This is going to be the beginning of bigger things.
“The first match was like the first half and now is the second half.
“If it was a relay, that was the first baton, now we are finishing off.
“This is like a Cup game. DeMbare are chasing the league title and we want to get out of the mud,” said Msiska.
CAPS United assistant coach Mkhupali “Mr Cooper” Masuku is also confident that the Green Machine will come out with a positive result.
“If we do everything right it would be our day.
“We have picked up a lot of positives and I am sure we will come right.
“Maybe Sunday it’s our day. A derby can go either way irregardless of form.
“Preparations have gone on well and we have one injury worry Rediyoni (David) who is nursing a ankle injury and we are still monitoring,” said Masuku.
The former Highlanders coach believes that his charges are naturally motivated and will do everything to win the tie.
“They are hungry. We just don’t have that luck.
“These matches are about player’s ego and who is who in town.
“The Soccer Stars of the Year usually came from these matches.
“Whoever would be on form during these matches used to have a chance to be on the calendar,” said Masuku.
