MSU will be looking to register their first victory over correctional services side Hwahwa when the two sides clash at MSU grounds today in a Zifa Central Soccer League fixture. The two teams have so far met three times since last season when both teams were promoted to Division One league with Hwahwa winning two fixtures on a one nil scoreline before the two sides played a two all draw in the reverse fixture early this season albeit under controversial circumstances.
With Hwahwa leading 2 – 1 in the twilight stages of the match, MSU were awarded a goal which seemed not to have crossed the line which sparked protests from the correctional services players and officials who felt hard done by the referee’s decision.
Hwahwa coach Terrence Mhiripiri said derbies were always tricky but added that his side is going into the game seeking nothing short of victory to put their campaign back on track. His counterpart, Godfrey Chuchu who watched his side fall from second position to eighth on the log standings, is also upbeat about the encounter and said his side is also gunning for maximum points.
