Elisheba Sikireta, a final-year student specialising in Music Business, Musicology and Technology at Midlands State University, is dedicated to empowering underprivileged women through music.
Known in the music community as Xiba, the 23-year-old has gained recognition as a talented composer, dancer and choreographer.
And, just a few months before she graduates, Xiba has vowed to make an impression not only as a musician but influencer.
Currently, she is receiving rave reviews for her love single titled “Wangu Uripi,” where she prays for honesty and appreciation in relationships. She firmly believes that true love can be a painkiller, needed by people from all walks of life.
This is one area where many men have failed to meet the demands of women, which Xiba aims to address in her career.
“I am into RnB and Afro-pop, using my talent to address real issues we face in life, such as love, appreciation, and honesty,” she emphasised.
“I am also determined to prioritise these issues affecting us (women). I will continue to do this and strive to leave a lasting impression on many people’s lives.”
The multi-tasking student, who believes in hard work, has devised a special way to balance her schedule.
“I make sure to plan my schedule so that my programmes don’t clash. I have a workable timetable and always give myself enough time to study and fulfil my responsibilities.”
“Musically, I have a special arrangement with my team to ensure that my performances do not conflict with my schoolwork,” she explained.
Xiba, a firm believer in collaboration, acknowledges the contributions of others to her success over the years.
“I enjoy collaborating with other stars. To date, I have released singles like ‘Bokola’ featuring Ndunge Yut, ‘New Girl’, ‘My Feelings’ featuring Holy Ten, and another with Young Gemini,” she stated.
At only 23, she believes she has much to offer the music industry with her talent.
“My vision is to grow and be recognised among the best. I will continue working hard to achieve an international breakthrough, which we all yearn for in this business.
“I am confident it can be achieved through the hard work we are putting in. It takes a lot of determination to reach the elite league of stars,” she emphasised.
As the ninth child in a family of 10, she has vowed to empower fellow women through charity work once she graduates.
“Besides focusing on music, I have a lot planned to change the lives of many people, especially women and girls, through charity work. I will do my best to make that dream come true,” she said.
Xiba is also proud of her family’s support.
“I can’t thank my family enough for their support from my days at Masaisai Primary School to Riverton Academy, and now at Midlands State University, where I am in my final year. Musically, my family has supported me, and now it’s up to me to ensure I realise my dreams as both a musician and an academic,” she added.
Xiba is one of the creatives who believes in the power of education to ensure her musical journey leaves a lasting impact.
She aspires to be recognised as one of the finest artists who embraces education
