MTC to host first 2016 race

THE local horse racing authority Mashonaland Turf Club (MTC) is set to hold their first race on the 2016 racing calendar, the Hachiman Sprint race at Borrowdale Race Course on 3 January.
The provisional list for the race has already been released and the final list is due out any time. There will be $8 000 in stakes money which will be shared among the winner and the three top placed horses.
According to the list, Approval Rating by Gokhan Terzi is the highest rated nominee at 96. Up next is Atso’s Scheme from the yard of Bridget Stidolp with a rating of 92. The third best horse in terms of ratings is the 2015 winner of the People’s Award, Super Trouper at 88.
All in all a total of 12 runners are vying for all the available slots. Among those are Carla The Rebel, Gentle Brook, Newton Power, Nimble Dancer, Pecifica, Pegwell Bay, Picalilly, Road to Dubai and Thriller In Manilla. A total of six minor races will be held on the day as supporting acts.
