Triangle 1-0 Hwange
CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League side Triangle continued with their survival fight after they defeated visiting Hwange in a league match at Gibbo Stadium yesterday.
The Sugar Boys have so far collected seven points since former Highlanders gaffer Kelvin Kaindu was appointed as the side’s new technical adviser.
Kaindu is yet to get a work permit to enable him to sit on the bench.
They defeated Caps United 2-1 at Gibbo before posting a 1-1 draw against Chicken Inn in Bulawayo on Wednesday. Ronald Mudimu scored the all important goal in the second half.
Triangle were the first to get a scoring chance in the fourth minute when striker Felix Kutswatuka threaded a fine pass to Nhamo Lameck inside the box but his shot was blocked by Hwange goalkeeper Takabwa Mawaya.
Hwange player David Boriwondo was booked by referee Rugare Kusosa after pulling down striker Richard Kawondera just outside the box.
Hwange almost opened the scoring in the 20th minute after veteran defender Gilbert Zulu found Ronald Chinyengetere who headed over the bar.
In the 33rd minute Brian Juwayeyi managed to find unmarked Richard Kawondera inside the box but he fluffed the chance by heading wide.
Two minutes later Hwange’s Andrew Chuma had a snap shot that hit the cross bar with Triangle goalkeeper Mudimu at sea.
Praise Tonha who was having a decent game watched in disbelief as Takabva blocked his full bloodied shot.
In the second half Hwange defender Munyaradzi Mangadze tackled Juwayeyi inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot.
Mudimu beat Takabva to register the important goal. Triangle defender Charles Rukwanhi was red-carded in the 76th minute after he tackled Evans Rusike on the edge of the box.
Hwange head coach Nation Dube was left fuming after the match saying that match officials were biased against his team. Dube was restrained by armed policeman after he charged towards match officials.
“That was daylight robbery the game was decided by the referee and this isn’t good,” he said.
His counterpart Biggie Zuze was however happy with the result saying his boys would have doubled their game’s tally.
“I’m happy we collected three crucial points on our survival mission. Both teams created a lot of chances and despite the win Hwange are a good side. We handled them well and that’s why we won,” said Zuze.
