Mufakose house burns down

At least 11 members of the family escaped unhurt from the inferno that occurred at house number 44 Jiri Crescent in Mufakose.
Mr Ntoloki Mhone, a family member, said the fire burnt property and food stocks.

“When electricity was restored I then heard a loud explosion, which resulted in the house catching fire and burning property. The meter box exploded and suddenly the whole house was on fire,” said Mr James Mhone, another family member.

“The fire destroyed the whole house to the ground. Thank God the next house was not affected much because it was rescued by the Fire Brigade.”
He could not give an estimate of the value of property that was destroyed.

Some residents in the area blamed Zesa and demanded that the power utility takes responsibility to repair the house.
“Zesa is not doing anything to protect our lives, electricity can be switched off six times per day and no wonder the house was burnt down,” a resident said.
A Zesa official could not readily comment on the matter and referred all questions to head office.
