FORMER Zimbabwe Black Aces marksman Wilfred “Silver Fox” Mugeyi is happy that he has finally received all his dues from AmaZulu.
Mugeyi was club interim coach until he was replaced by Steve Barker late last year. He had been club assistant coach prior to that but a trail of bad results saw him being excluded from the technical team.
“Last month AmaZulu finally paid me what was outstanding and I can now move forward as a happy man. I loved the team even though things never worked according to plan,” said Mugeyi.
The former Warriors hitman said a team of AmaZulu’s status must always be in the top league as it has a rich history.
The other old teams which still play in the top flight league are Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows.
Mugeyi who was Zimbabwe’s most outstanding player in the PSL and had a stint in China, said he is looking for a coaching job in South Africa and would not mind working in Zimbabwe.
During his heydays he won South Africa’s Players’ Player of the Year and the Player of the Year accolade with his former team Umtata Bush Bucks which is campaigning in the lower league.
Together with his twin brother William who was a freekick specialist during those days, they did exceptionally well and lasted almost 13 years in that country’s top flight league ranking among the longest surviving Zimbabwean footballers in that country’s elite division.
