The twin brothers are now coaches with Wilfred in charge of unstable PSL rookies Chippa United while William is the boss at third tier league club FC Buffalo — who are based in East London — his adopted home.
Wilfred is in his first coaching job as a head coach in the PSL after being brought in from Cape Town neighbours Ajax where he had been assistant coach since 2007.
The 43 year-old has had it rough in his new job, losing five of his first six games in charge with the club falling on its knees right at the bottom of the standings and only hoping to merely survive the drop in their first year in top flight football.
Having been the more popular of the pair during their playing days due to his goal scoring exploits that saw him play as far as China and Israel, Wilfred has somehow kept that trend going into his coaching career.
Straight after retiring in 2007 after playing at Free State Stars and Western Province United, Wilfred shot straight into the Ajax system.
For William he keeps on battling down the lower divisions with his latest job leaving him in the amateur ranks at FC Buffalo, though he also had a taste of the PSL nine years ago when he stood in as caretaker coach at Bush Bucks.
William finds himself at FC Buffalo chasing a place to the play-offs where a ticket to the First Division is at stake. “We still have a huge chance of going through to the play-offs. This is a job that I have to do and I am glad that I am doing it the right way,” says William, whose team is in third place just past the halfway mark.
William spent all his playing days in South Africa at Bush Bucks where he holds the proud record of having made the most appearances at the now defunct club with 297 games to his name. Wilfred holds the record of most goals in the history of Bush Bucks with 113 goals to his name and also stands as the only player to ever reach a century of goals.
