19-YEAR-OLD model, Vimbai Mukorera, pulled a surprise, shocked many, including herself and scooped the Miss Personality crown at the Miss 21st national beauty pageant held last Friday in Victoria Falls. The reigning Miss Valentine’s, in an interview revealed that the beauties who took part in the contest were confident and all deserved to win, a situation that made her so “unsettled”.
The contest was part of President Mugabe’s 91st birthday celebrations.
Mukorera together with Chido Gunda were the two Manicaland representatives.
Gunda could not make it among the crème de la crème and faltered in early rounds of the contest.
“I felt under pressure to deliver. It was the toughest contest ever. The atmosphere was tense, but I had to compose myself. I learnt that among the models were former Miss Zim and Miss Zim Gold finalists and I was among the novices. Their modelling was good.
That motivated me to prove a point and I thank God it worked. I was shocked to be crowned among the best. Being in the top three was going to be a bonus. I was happy,” said the elated Vimbai.
She said she was considering pursuing modelling as a profession and would also want to venture into the fashion industry.
“My confidence continues to grow. I feel encouraged to keep going. I hope to take this profession more seriously and if money would permit, I would love venturing into the fashion industry. I really wish to do some fashion shows,” she added.
