Zimbabwe’s Defence attache to Ethiopia Colonel Kutandakwenkosi Donga has died. Col Donga, the first woman to be appointed a defence attaché in the ZDF, died in Addis Ababa on January 8 from a suspected heart attack. She was 56. In a statement yesterday, director army public relations Lieutenant Colonel Alphios Makotore said arrangements to repatriate the body of the late Col Donga from Ethiopia were in progress. The body is expected in the country today.
“A funeral parade will be held at headquarters Bulawayo District, Imbizo Barracks in Bulawayo on Saturday January 17, 2015.
Mourners are gathered at No 6 Canford Avenue, Cotswold Hills, Mabelreign, Harare. Col Donga will be buried on Sunday at West Park Cemetery in Bulawayo.
She was born on September 2, 1959 in Bulilimamangwe District under chief Mpini in Dombodema Village.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi yesterday sent a message of condolence to Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Senegal Mrs Getrude Stevenson-Dickey following the death of her husband Jim Richard Alexander Dickey.
Mr Dickey died last Saturday.
In a statement, Minister Mumbengegwi said: “The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Simbarashe S. Mumbengegwi, the Secretary, Ambassador Joey M. Bimha and the entire Ministry learnt with sadness the untimely death of Mr Jim Richard Alexander Dickey, spouse to Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Senegal, Her Excellency Gertrude Lottie Stevenson-Dickey and would like to express their heartfelt condolences to Ambassador Stevenson-Dickey and children, as well as the entire Dickey family at this difficult and sad time.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Ambassador Stevenson-Dickey and children, as well as the entire Dickey family during this difficult time. May the Lord bring comfort and courage to face this sad time.”
Mr Dickey is survived by his wife, three step-children and six step-grandchildren.
