PREMIERSHIP teams were spared from facing each other in the ZIFA Munhumutapa Challenge Cup Round of 16 after the draw for the competition held in Harare this morning produced only two fixtures pitting top-flight teams.
The draw decided opponents for the men, women and Futsal teams in the country’s richest knockout tournament.
Each category will see eight matches being played during the weekend of August 28 to August 30 at various venues countrywide.
Manica Diamonds were handed a relatively tough assignment when they were drawn away against CAPS United, while the other all-top-flight contest will see Ngezi Platinum Stars face Herentals.
Sports and Recreation Commission director general Allen Mavhunga conducted the draw in the men’s category while ZIFA secretary general Yvonne Manwa took charge of the women’s category.
