LOVEMORE Munyamana bagged his fifth consecutive Mr Bulawayo bodybuilding title at Elite 400 on Saturday night.
Munyamana, who trains at Bodyworks Gym, beat four other contestants to retain the title he has personalised since 2012. The 33-year-old Munyamana conceded that the event was tough despite the unanimous decision by all five judges scoring him the winner.
He believes his symmetrical body enabled him to win.
“I’m very happy although the competition was tight because we were few. As the champion, everyone had been training hard to upstage me but I won because of my cut. I am cut to the bone, plus my body is more balanced than the others,’’ said Munyamana.
For being the champion, Munyamana took home a brand new Samsung Tab 3 and a $150 cash.
Thompson Mpala, a city businessman, who is also a bodybuilder and Mr Bulawayo 1995, provided the tablet and cash sponsorship. John Lunga was the first runner up, while Delvin Page finished third.
Shantel Greenland of Bodyworks Gym also retained her Ms Bulawayo crown ahead of Selina Manuel from the same gym, while Thandi Khumalo of Nketa was third. Only three women entered the competition.
The first prize in the male fitness category went to Brian Saundombe. Chukwu Emeka, an 18-year-old Petra High schoolboy, won the male junior section ahead of Dean Grant and Zibusiso Khumalo. Each of them walked away with certificates, trophies and buckets of supplements.
Clarion Insurance, Zimpapers through Sports Zone and Bodyworks Gym also provided financial backing for the event. — @Mdawini_29
