The show was held at Murewa Cultural Centre under theme: “A Culture of Peace for Cultural Tourism” and it ran for three days, attracting more than 6 000 people from Thursday to Friday.
This year’s show was aimed at promoting tourism in the area as well as the numerous other attractions that the area is endowed with.
“Murehwa is endowed with many tourist attractions including the Murehwa Caves as well as others like the scenic mountains, stones, rich agricultural background as well as the diverse cultures of its people.
“So this year’s theme of the Murehwa Agricultural Show was aimed at promoting tourism in the area,” an official Cuthbert Maziwa said.
Lloyd Maibheka, another spokesperson of the event, said it was a welcome move when the people of Mashonaland East province showed a unity of purpose by coming together for a worthy cause.
“The involvement by the farmers, local business community, artistes and people at large was just overwhelming.
“There was no demarcation in the various activities and this year the event was bigger and better as compared to last year, probably because last year it was year of hunger,” he said.
The agricultural show coincided with the Murehwa UMP Agricultural show as well as the Mbende Traditional Dance Festival.
