Lemmy Dimba will enter this year’s Mr Novice bodybuilding contest at Pro-Fitness Gym.
Dimba, who pumps iron at Scorpion Gym in the capital, is hoping to land the prize when the athletes line-up for the show this morning.
“I have never entered any bodybuilding competitions before but I have featured on Kapfupi’s video and that’s why people call me Baba Ngaa.
“The Mr Novice is basically a competition for people who are like amateurs and there is no pressure on me at all,” said Dimba.
Eddie Marondera, who trains at Scorpion Gym, won the last edition of the Mr Novice in 2010 and Dimba is now drawing confidence from his gym-mate.
“I started my preparations only a week ago because I got to know of the event late.
“However, I have been working on the routines and poses and I think I stand a good chance of winning.
“A lot of people have encouraged me to enter and now I am confident,” said Dimba.
But how did Dimba end up starring in Fred Majalima’s video?
“I am a friend to Kapfupi and he told me that he wanted a hulk to feature on his video. I volunteered and that’s how I ended up as ‘murume akasimba’,” said Dimba.
Dimba is also a personal trainer at the gym.
Today, Dimba is likely to square off against Kudzanai Kujinga and Tommy Munyariwa who are also hoping to pass the pre-judging stage.
Keita Kaseke has entered for the Mr Novice junior while the show will also see athletes competing in the Ms Novice, the Ms Bikini and Mr Physique.
This year’s Mr Novice has also attracted entries from participants from Chegutu, Chinhoyi, Bulawayo and Mutare.
