FORMER Warriors striker, Nyasha Mushekwi, has had another exceptional weekend in China. He scored two goals for Yunnan Yukun in a 2-3 loss to Shijiazhuang Gongfu, bringing his total to 24 goals for the season and breaking his personal best.
His previous high was 23 goals, which he achieved three years ago while playing for Zhejiang FC in League One. With his latest brace, Mushekwi leads the Chinese League One scoring chart by seven goals.
There is a growing desire for the 37-year-old former CAPS United bustling striker, along with Knowledge Musona, to make a return to the Warriors.
Warriors head coach Michael Nees, who has already successfully convinced Khama Billiat to reconsider his retirement from the national team, is keen to reach out to foreign-based players to strengthen the national team.
Lincoln Mutasa, chairman of the Zifa Normalisation Committee, is optimistic about the future of the Warriors under coach Nees.

“We have high hopes for his (Nees) tenure, and we’re already seeing his impact. He has even managed to convince some former national team players to return from retirement. We are confident our Warriors are in capable and inspiring hands under his leadership,” said Mutasa.
Meanwhile, South African football giants, Orlando Pirates, are reportedly eyeing Zimbabwe striker ,Daniel Msendami to bolster their attacking options just four games into the new season.
Msendami, currently playing for Marumo Gallants after a move from Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy, has caught the attention of the Pirates’ scouts, who have reportedly been monitoring his performance for some time.
Sources close to both Marumo Gallants and Pirates told South African online publication, Soccer Laduma, that the Buccaneers are keen on securing Msendami’s services.
The 22-year-old striker, known for his pace and skill, has impressed the technical team at Pirates who believe he could be a valuable addition to the squad.
However, it’s still unclear whether the club intends to sign him during the January transfer window or at the end of the season.
“What we are not sure of is whether it’s for January or the end of the season but what I can tell you is that the technical team and the scouts are said to be happy with the player,” said a source.
“The good thing is that he is still young and can join the club at any time if they still want him. But for now, it has just been inquiries about the player,” the source added.
According to insiders, their interest dates back to his time in Botswana, where he played for Jwaneng Galaxy. Msendami made a significant impact in a Caf Champions League match against Pirates, scoring the goal that knocked the Buccaneers out of the competition. — @FungaiMuderere.
