Mushikashika passenger loses more than US$2k

A 40-year-old Masvingo man lost US$2 300 after boarding a Mushikashika in Harare on Wednesday.

Luckmore Mudzamiri of Rhodhine in Masvingo’s boarded a silver Toyota Aqua at the Simon Muzenda Street commuter rank intending to go to his brother’s house in Ruwa.

The vehicle had four occupants and he sat at the back seat between two of the robbers.

Upon approaching an intersection near Eastlea, one of the robbers produced a screw driver whilst the other pointed a knife on Luckmore’s neck and ordered him to surrender his belongings.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating an armed robbery case involving a Mushikashika vehicle,” said Insp Chakanza.

“The accused persons forced the complainant to surrender his belongings, satchel containing toiletries, defensive certificate, national ID, two Itel cellphones and US$2 160.

“The accused persons later dumped the complainant along Hillside Extension near and drove off.

“Total value stolen is US$2300,” said Insp Chakanza.
