BEATRICE Masawi, a mother of four who is taking her first steps into becoming a gospel artist, says music runs in her blood.

The 45-year-old leads a band called Heavenly Echoes.

“I live with my family of four, three girls and a boy, in Harare.

“I want to thank the good Lord that I am here because of His amazing grace.

“I started my musical journey a long time ago but I only recorded my first songs in 2019.

“Even in church, I was not shy when it came to singing.

“I am a person who is serious when it comes to singing.”

Masawi said the songs she recorded in 2019 received some criticism.

“I was hurt by the criticism that I was given.

“I then decided to take a break from music and what compounded the situation was the COVID era.

“However, some people kept asking for my music and it motivated me and inspired me to keep singing.”
