Unity Day is one of the most important days on the calendar in this country. That is the day when the ruling party ZANU-PF signed a unity accord with PF ZAPU and today Zimbabweans from different parts of the country celebrate the day.
Several musicians have lined up shows as a way of appreciating what the political leadership
has done to ensure that there is peace and togetherness in the country.
Alick Macheso has lined up a family show in Southerton today at Las Vegas before he leaves for Mozambique where he will be performing in Beira.
His assistant manager Tich Makahamadze said it was important for every Zimbabwean to celebrate the day as it was important in the history of the country.
“Unity Day is very special to us as Zimbabweans and we need to celebrate it. We will be unveiling our new album as a way of giving fans real value for their money,” said Makahamadze.
Macheso has since announced the album will be called “Tsoka Dzerwendo (ayaya)”.
Stunner said he would not be performing on the day but rather he would spend it with his family.
“That day I always spend with family and I have been doing that for almost five years now,” he said.
Dancehall musician Killer T said he would be performing at private functions on the day.
“The youth must be grateful for this day as it is important in the history of the country,” he said.
Peter Moyo, who released an album two months ago, will be performing at Paramount Night Club in Chitungwiza.
“We all celebrate the day that unites every Zimbabwean,” he said.
Bulawayo-based musician Jayz Marabini said although he would not be performing anywhere he would celebrate the day with his family.
“That day has always been important to me though I will not be performing anywhere,” he said.
Mutare-based gospel musician Blessing Shumba said he would be performing at a private function in the capital.
“We need to pray to God who gave us leaders who are willing to unite the nation. I will be having a private function on the day,” he said.
Jah Prayzah will be performing in Hwange.
