MUSONA’S ARRIVAL A GAME CHANGER FOR PSL

KNOWLEDGE Musona’s signing by ambitious newboys Scottland is a massive statement of ambition for the club and a very good move for the Castle Lager Premiership.

The Smiling Assassin, considered by many as the second greatest Warrior after Peter Ndlovu, in terms of sheer contribution to the national cause, was unveiled by the Mabvuku side at Rufaro on Monday afternoon.

The deal means Musona will be able to play in the domestic Premiership for the first time in his career.Until now, he has only played in foreign leagues as a professional.

He has spent the last 17 years playing all over the world, starting in South Africa and ending in Saudi Arabia and playing in Belgium and Germany in between.

He said he is excited to be back home and revealed that he wants to end his career as a professional playing for Scottland.

Reports indicate that the Mabvuku side beat competition from clubs in South Africa and Saudi Arabia to sign the former Warriors captain.

Musona has a massive profile in local football and his arrival will boost the appeal of the domestic Premiership. He is likely to play his first game in the domestic Premiership when Scottland visit Mandava for a massive showdown against FC Platinum on Saturday.

That game could go a long way in deciding the destiny of the league championship race.

Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum are unbeaten in the championship race so far and are within striking range of the leaders while Scottland squeezed into second place on Monday, just a point behind leaders Simba Bhora.

The Scotts will be hoping that Musona will boost their side, which has a number of stars but many of whom have not been firing up to expectations.

They will also be hoping that Musona and Khama Billiat will revive their partnership, which has been at the heart of the Warriors’ success stories in the past decade.

They have been the heart and soul of the national team’s adventure and helped us qualify for three AFCON finals.

But, more than the Scottland interests, there are the wider league interests and the PSL will be boosted by his arrival on the scene.

We have already seen that there has been more interest in the PSL this year than in the previous years even though our biggest club, Dynamos, have been struggling.

For a long time, the Glamour Boys were the club which drew the biggest number of fans to the stadiums on a regular basis.

But this is no longer the case and rough estimates show that DeMbare are attracting less than 3,000 fans to their home matches.

However, the arrival of stars of Musona will ensure that fans will be coming to the stadiums, in numbers, just to watch their class.

We saw that when Billiat returned home last season, even though he was playing for a club that does not draw large crowds.

We should all be excited with the arrival of Musona in our domestic Premiership.

  1. Call it what you want but we don’t bring 35 year olds that have failed to hold places in the lowest teams in a mediocre league like the Saudi Arabia league into our football and then call that a game changer. If that’s the case Moses Chunga must rejoin Dynamos and we will call it a game changer too. Lol!
