Mutare mayor’s probe team begins work

provincial administrator Mr Felix Chikovo, is expected to complete the probe in seven days and submit its findings to the minister. Clr James was suspended last month.

In an interview yesterday, Mutare town clerk Mr Obert Muzavazi said the team was expected to gather information from stakeholders, including council officials. “The team started the hearing yesterday (Tuesday) and is expected to complete the hearing next Tuesday,” he said. Mr Muzavazi claimed the suspended mayor was unprofessional. “Several times he vetoed council decisions without consulting the officials. He thinks that he is an executive mayor, forgetting that he is just a ceremonial leader.”
