SOME people are born famous, some achieve fame, and others have fame thrust upon them, so wrote William Shakespeare, and in the same token, the now deceased Mbuya Svikiro Dorca, might have achieved fame as well as having had fame thrust upon her.
After all, fame comes in different forms!
While some have made names out of their riches, others their level of education and others their sporting processes, Mbuya Dorca was known to many in the streets of Mutare as a mentally challenged, yet hyper interactive personality.
The streets in Mutare as well as its social media platforms, as is now the norm in this era, were abuzz with the death of the 71-year old Mbuya Dorca, born Sylvia Masara who breathed her last at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital in the eastern border city yesterday.
She is survived by two children (the other two are now deceased) and six grandchildren.
Mourners are gathered at Number 99, OTS in Sakubva, Mutare.
One of her grandchildren, Vimbai Makore said: “I want to thank the people of Mutare for all the good things that you did for my grandmother. Her name is Sylvia Masara, but she was known as Mbuya Dorca.
“As a family we are really grateful. She used to walk around town and would receive help from different people around the city. We are also very grateful to the nurses at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital who gave her good medical care, but the Lord made His decision. We can only say may her soul rest in eternal peace.”
