MUTARE Girls’ High School and Manicaland table tennis player Charity Mhaka is set to leave Mutare for a national team training session to be held tomorrow (Saturday) at Prince Edward High School in Harare. The two-day training session will be attended by numerous players drawn from across the country.

Manicaland table tennis technical director, William Machacha, confirmed Mhaka’s participation and said she has what it takes to make it into the national team.

“It is exciting to have your players being recognised for national duty. This shows that our efforts are being recognised.
“Besides Mhaka, we have three other players called up for national team selection, among them Tafadzwa Dhlakama, Zibhedha Khanyi and Vimai Makuwaza who is already in the Under-18 national team.

“However, the three did not manage to go as they are writing their examinations,” said Machacha.
Meanwhile, Machacha also confirmed that Manicaland table tennis will be changing its centre from Mutare Girls’ High to Mutare Teachers’ College.

“We are also changing our centre to MTC because we sometimes face some difficulties in doing our business at a Mutare Girls’ High School because the game consists of both male and female players.
“We are only left with getting approval from the principal and we are also waiting for additional equipment from Harare,” he said.
