DEPUTY Minister of Energy and Power Development Engineer Munacho Mutezo has called for more investment in education, saying well-educated children will help to turn the country’s economic fortunes. Speaking at Nyamusundu Primary School where he donated furniture and stationary to Early Childhood Development (ECD) classes last week, Eng Mutezo said it was everyone’s duty to contribute towards the country’s economic turn-around programmes.
“There is no development without us working together. Government is saddled with a lot of challenges and it is up to us to contribute towards our economic emancipation.
“Having no clean source of water has seen teachers leaving for other schools. We are in the process of building a windmill so that they get clean water and our children get quality education.
“A happy teacher is a productive teacher and will bring us good results, so let us find it in our hearts to find every opportunity possible to honour these teachers that we have,” said Eng Mutezo.
He promised to mobilise resources to rehabilitate the road that links Nyasundu and Dokotoko primary schools with the rest of the district.
“The road will be rehabilitated using the Chimanimani Rural Council grader. I will provide the fuel together with the help of the local community. This partnership between the local Parliamentary representative, the community and various stakeholders is in line with the country’s economic blueprint, Zim-Asset.
“Work on the road should start as soon as the grader has been repaired,” said Eng Mutezo.
Dokotoko villagers have already moved in to ensure that their road is rehabilitated through cutting down trees near the road as well as clearing some of the rocky outcrop.
Villagers were also encouraged to embrace the rural electrification project by forming small groups and contribute money to make the project a reality.
“We currently have over 36 group schemes in the constituency and recently we commissioned electricity at Shinja.
“The project was very successful and left everyone smiling,” he said.
Eng Mutezo also donated a hybrid he-goat to the Dokotoko people for breeding purposes.
The councillor for the area, Clr Mutsengiwa hailed Eng Mutezo for keeping in touch with the electorate.
“Thank you for coming back after we voted you into office. You have shown us that you have your constituency at heart.
“Thank you for the furniture and the stationery, a gesture we will never forget,” he said.
