Mutezo hails community development projects

DEPUTY Minister of Energy and Power Development Engineer Munacho Mutezo has hailed the partnership between non-governmental organisations operating in his constituency and the community for initiating development projects.
Eng Mutezo made the remarks while touring Mhandarume High School in Chimanimani West where classroom blocks are being built to develop the school.

He described the development at the school as an exemplary way of backing Government’s Zim-Asset blueprint inasfar as infrastructure development was concerned.

He also thanked World Vision, which is working hand-in-hand with the Government to support the initiative in the area.
“The impressive work being done here shows that Zimbabweans are slowly coming to understand what the Zim-Asset blueprint is all about.

The issue of infrastructure development is a serious one and the building of these school blocks is an example to be followed by other schools within and outside the constituency. Now that the school is developing, we now expect better pass rates. There is no more room for mediocrity from both the teachers and students.”

One of the teachers at Mhandarume High School, Mr Godfrey Chiremba, who led the tour of the new school blocks, expressed satisfaction with the work being done at the school.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the good work being carried out at the school. We used to have close to 75 children in classrooms, but with the new classroom blocks we will have at most 35 students in a class, something which will ensure better ventilation and a more conducive learning environment for the students. Over-crowdedness is now a thing of the past,” he said.

A villager, Mrs Jane Jese from Shati Village, applauded the work being done in the area, adding that through Eng Mutezo’s activities, the constituency was recovering from poverty and poor infrastructure development.

“Our constituency is fast developing and we are grateful. When Cde Mutezo won, we thought he would be doing everything for us, but his approach to development is a different one. He is training us to be independent and innovative as individuals such that the dependency syndrome is being wiped out. We are getting what we were promised before the elections and we are impressed by the fact that our legislator is walking the talk of developing this area in the shortest space of time,” she said.

Eng Mutezo also challenged the people in Mhandarume to embrace the rural electrification programme.
“Rural electrification remains one of our most important recommendations in this constituency because we want every household to be electrified. I am urging you to form group schemes as well as opening bank accounts in which you will save your money to have electricity in your homes. These schemes should have three signatories responsible for the accounting of money you will be saving,” he said.

Eng Mutezo also donated 20 chairs to primary school pupils at Mashonjowa Primary School as well as exercise books for their use.
