PARLIAMENT’s Committee on Standing Rules and Orders has removed Bikita South legislator Dr Energy Mutodi as the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Budget, Finance and Investment Promotion.
The removal was announced by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, during its sitting yesterday and was done in terms of the Parliament’s Standing Rules and Orders.
“The CSRO has resolved to terminate the chairmanship of Cde Dr Energy Mutodi of the Portfolio Committee on Budget, Finance and Investment Promotion,” Adv Mudenda said.
He also informed the House that Chipinge East legislator Cde Lincoln Dhliwayo will take over the chairmanship of the Committee.
Dr Mutodi was in the news last week when he accused, without evidence, officials from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, of demanding bribes from Government contractors to facilitate quick payment of their money for work done.
He first made the allegations on his X handle.
