“I am extremely happy for the support from both my husband and those who came here today,” she said.
“In a marriage, couples should learn to support each other, for it is important in sustaining their marriages.”
Deputy Minister Mutsvangwa added: “If women are married to loving husbands they can attain everything they can think of.
“Today, if it was not for my husband Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa who has been my pillar of strength, I strongly believe that I could have never made it.”
Deputy Minister Mutsvangwa applauded President Mugabe for letting women attain higher posts in the party.
“He rewarded me for the effort I exhibited and today we are celebrating the victory. The support from the party itself should not go unmentioned since leaders have also acknowledged my elevation from being a Senator to Deputy Minister.”
Deputy Minister Mutsvangwa promised to work hard in the new post so that the nation can benefit more from her services.
“My ministry’s mandate is to support the poor and the reason why I love this job is because I am a politician who loves to work with people so that they can enjoy the fruits of the liberation struggle,” she said.
Speaking at the same occasion, Senate president Edna Madzongwe thanked Ambassador Mutsvangwa for supporting his wife.
She said Senator Mutsvangwa was humble and hardworking.
Ambassador Mutsvangwa said the promotion of his wife came through unity in the family.
“It is a great pleasure for us to meet and celebrate my wife’s achievement,” he said.
“My wife and I got married during the liberation struggle and this has cemented our marriage and it is a message specifically for the young generation.”
