FORMER Warriors defender Method Mwanjali sustained a knee injury at training last week at his South African Premiership side Mpumalanga Black Aces. The rock solid defender missed his team’s Sunday Absa Premier League game against Polokwane City which they lost 1-2 away in Polokwane.
Aces surprised many last Wednesday when they edged star-studded Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 at home in a league game. The former Sundowns player who captains Amazayoni is regarded as the best player and a good leader at the club.
Mwanjali didn’t travel with the team. Method Mwanjali said: “In the game of football you win some and lose others, it doesn’t matter which team you are playing against. People must understand that all teams that are campaigning in the same league are equal. I believe the loss to City will not hamper our mission of finishing in a respectable position before the Christmas break.
“Thank God the injury is not that serious as I thought, I promise in a few days I will be back in the thick of things. What happened to me can happen to any player,” said the former Caps United, Hwange and Shabanie Mine utility player.
On Friday evening Terrence Mandaza’s Maritzburg United was demolished by Ajax Cape Town 3-1 at Cape Town Stadium. On Saturday evening Takesure Chinyama’s Platinum Stars made history by beating Orlando Pirates 2-1 in a thrilling Telkom Knockout final at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.
Stars have outplayed the Soweto giants twice in one season as first they beat them in the MTN Top 8 final. In the National First Division, Brian Abbas Amidu’s Black Leopards beat log leaders Milano United 2-1.
At Athlone Stadium in Cape Town Ralph Matema, Peter and Patrick Mubaiwa’s Witbank Spurs drew 2-2 with Santos.
