MWOS failed their first test in the capital as a Premiership club when they stumbled to a 0-1 defeat at the hands of unpredictable Yadah in a Castle Lager Premiership game at the Heart Stadium on Saturday.
Lloyd Mutasa and his men surrendered pole position to Simba Bhora who won a five-goal thriller 3-2 over Herentals at Rufaro.
The Heart Stadium has not been a favourite hunting ground for Mutasa and his troops.
They lost to Scottland in their first battle in the Northern Region Division One league, which proved to be the difference in the Mabvuku side winning the championship and MWOS finishing second.
They lost again on their first visit as a PSL side.
The Norton side have the same number of points (40) as Simba Bhora who are on top due to a superior goal difference.
Terrence Daka netted directly from a corner kick just after the break.
The Miracle Boys had three fine chances towards the end of the match to extend their lead and end the match as a contest.
Yadah goalkeeper, Taimon Mvula, also made some top drawer saves. Takunda Vhareta was named man-of-the-match for ensuring that Billy Vheremu and Salif Cheya were kept in check. “We did everything we could, the boys tried but you have to give it to our opponents who denied us the chance to penetrate their defence,” said Mutasa.
“It was not our day but we are going to try our best to get a positive result in our next fixture, you have to accept everything in football.
“Our target was to reach the 40-point mark and we are happy to have achieved it earlier than expected but it does not stop us from improving that tally.”
His counterpart Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe challenged his men to be consistent.
Yadah are now on 20 points and they are just a point away from safety.
“This win helps to have confidence in our next fixtures because we are still not in a respectable position. Anything can happen and it is not good for this brand.
“Our boys showed they can fight and it is something I’m hoping to see in our coming fixtures because we are now running out of time.
“I’m also happy for Vhareta, he is starting to get the attention he deserves because he is a special player.
