DJ OLLAH 7 says his grandmother, Gogo Cathrine Chindowa, 85, shaped him to be the man he is today.

The podcaster says this is why he “proudly and genuinely” features her on his social media platforms as a way of appreciating everything she did in raising him to be the man he is today.

With Mother’s Day celebrations around the corner, DJ Ollah, who stays with his granny, told Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub that he treats her like a queen every day.

“I have always acknowledged my granny for the roles she played in my life, shaping my career from the time I was very young, when my mother left me under the custody of my aunt until I was 14.

“Many never got a chance to see her in pictures and videos. The fact that I am still sharing these pictures of mine with her means that I love the woman who made me what I am today. At one point, I was convinced that she was my biological mother until when I was mature enough.

“Up to now, I don’t understand how she managed to raise me to be a fine young gentleman who has gone on to make a strong impact.”

The former Star FM disc jockey said Gogo Chindowa instilled discipline in him. “My granny taught me so many things in life and, chief among them was to be a prayer warrior. I have never stopped praying, which has made me very strong in my day-to-day life, from the time I was in Rusape until we relocated to Chitungwiza.

“I still stay with her at my house, she means so much to my life and career development.”

The former social soccer commentator added:

“It always feels good being surrounded by special people who value your worth. In my case, having my granny is a blessing, and I can’t wait for her birthday on August 8 as we continue celebrating life and good people. With Mother’s Day now upon us, I am blessed to have a special woman in my life in the form of my granny. She continues to help me when it comes to decision-making. Like any other man who has settled in marriage, she was always advising me to find a God-fearing partner, which I did.”

The multiple award-winning media personality’s career has continued to blaze a trail of success.
