‘My husband is petty’

A Harare woman was yesterday granted a protection order against her husband who she described as petty.

Onai Zvidziwa told magistrate Tamara Chibindi that her husband, Brighton Zvidziwa, physically and verbally abuses her most of the times.

“He is physically and verbally abusive towards me. He even threatens me with death sometimes, and I am now living in fear.”

Brighton did not oppose the application, but disputed his wife’s accusations.

“I have never threatened to kill her, but just told her that ‘unoziva ndinogumbuka’ then she was frightened and ran away. I have never physically assaulted her, but only tapped her a little bit on her shoulders.”

His submissions, however, failed to persuade magistrate Chibindi, and she ordered him not to physically or verbally abuse or threaten his wife.
