A man was stabbed five times and died on the spot by three unknown men who pursued him after stoning his vehicle for undisclosed reasons.

The deceased Shadreck Ncube (21) had parked his car near a terminus which is situated between First Avenue and Second Avenue along Samuel Parirenyatwa Street in Bulawayo. He sat in the car with his cousin Mbonisi Mpofu (21).

“While they were relaxing inside the car at around 10pm waiting for their relative who was supposed to be dropped off by a taxi, three unknown men pounced on their vehicle,” said a family member who declined to be named.

The source said the gang smashed a window on the driver’s side.

The now deceased and his cousin escaped through the shattered window and ran towards a bushy area but in different directions. The unknown men followed the late and caught up with him a few metres from the terminus near Matsheumhlope river.

“They stabbed him twice with a sharp object in the chest, once in the head, once on the left side of the wrist and once in the back. They fled leaving him in a pool of blood. He bled to death,” said the source.

His body was discovered in the morning by a passerby who reported the matter to the police. Bulawayo police attended the scene.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed:

“We are investigating a case of murder that occurred near Matsheumhlope River near a terminus which is between First Avenue and Second Avenue along Parirenyatwa Street. We are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of three men who are on the run. Anyone with information may kindly contact our nearest police station,” said Insp Ncube.
