Nakamba joins French league

This was confirmed on Tuesday by Bantu Rovers secretary-general Wilbert Sibanda.

Sibanda disclosed that the player is now available for selection.

He received his international clearance last week.

The Southern Region First Division side spokesperson disclosed that the player could not play since August because of inadequate documents.

“He has since been issued with an international transfer certificate. The delay was as a result of the team not being part of the Transfer Matching System, we have since attended to that and all is well now. Marvellous has signed for the French side,” said Sibanda.

The player is said to have caught the attention of several scouts after taking part in a junior soccer tournament at the beginning of the year. A Belgian club and Nancy were after his signature.

“He impressed the club and they have been with him since the beginning of the French First Division. Our registration culminated in his being registered in France, he is a relieved man and he is coming next week for the short break.

“We are proud of his achievements and we hope that his move will motivate many more youngsters after the boy impressed the team.

“He has made a permanent transfer and we are happy about his discipline, they are happy about him in that regard as well,” said Sibanda.

The Bantu Rovers spokesman could not be drawn into revealing the financial side of things.

“I do not think they would be happy with that, we resolved to keep it to ourselves as the two parties,” said Sibanda.

He revealed that another player would be going to Brazil for trials but he could not disclose the name.

Chronicle though understands the player in question is former Highlanders junior Teenage Hadebe who impressed during a youth festival held in the US in April.

He is a promising central defender. Sibanda said it was his team’s dream to have a quality junior player going abroad for trials every transfer window with some juniors promoted from the development side to replace them.

The club inherited a number of juniors from Highlanders when Melusi Sibanda joined Bantu Rovers.

Nakamba played for the Young Warriors and is son of former Hwange goalkeeper Anthony Nakamba.

The boy is a promising left wing attacking player.

Several Zimbabweans have played in France with Harlington Shereni and Benjani Mwaruwari having played in the French League 1.
