HAVING arrived safely in Morocco yesterday, Zimbabwe’s Warriors wasted no time before swiftly transitioning from their preparatory camp in Harare to the crucial and final phase of acclimatisation, settling into their tournament environment and remaining focused on their mission in North Africa.
Captain Marvelous Nakamba continues to lead the squad with a potent blend of determination and humility as they confront the ultimate continental challenge, the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Luton Town midfielder has spoken about the need to not only retain respect but also not fear any of their opponents despite the fact that two of their Group B rivals will be heading to the World Cup next year.
“We will respect every opponent, but we will not fear anyone,” Nakamba said.
“We cannot pledge just goals, but our fight. We can pledge our sweat. We can pledge our unity. We will expend every effort for the badge and for the flag that nurtured us, the Warriors pride.
The Warriors, are one of the teams who will have to make do with using two cities for their games.
They will begin their adventure with a clash against Egypt in Agadir before meeting both Angola and South Africa in Marrakech. Egypt will enjoy the privilege of being a group seed and will remain in Agadir. For Nakamba, however, what is most important is that the Warriors show their battling qualities in each of their assignments. Nakamba underscored that their presence is one of intent, not mere participation.
“We came to Morocco with humility, discipline, and determination. We did not travel as spectators, but as con-tenders,” he said.
The squad draws upon Nakamba’s seasoned guidance, alongside the experience of veterans such as Knowledge Musona, Divine Lunga, and Washington Arubi, to forge a cohesive unit capable of leaving a lasting impression.
Nakamba also extended his gratitude to the nation’s supporters.

The Warriors’ campaign commences on December 22 against Egypt, followed by pivotal clashes with Angola and South Africa.
Several players who were not part of the Harare-based camp are expected to join camp today going forward as they came to Morocco directly from their camps.
Coach Marian Marinica will be hoping that none of his European charges suffered knocks during the club duties last weekend.
